My dear friend,

Now dead,

Animates me

From within.

Her essence

Teaching me, humoring me,

nudging me, delighting me.

Her spirit now

A thought away.

Her legacy alive

In the spaces,

Connections,

Work,

she was called to

And into which she poured

Her whole self,

In love and service.

Strong, beautiful, brave.

Fighting cancer

To stay, live, work, love.

Until she chose to

Lay down arms against the beast;

Not in supplication

But in Grace.

Allowing love to fill the wounded places.

Gently leaving in other’s hands

Whatever lay unfinished.

Bravely saying the words of leaving

I love you

I will miss you
